Klara and the Sun

Enjoyable and well-written. The language is economic and subtle, but what is there does yield some thought-provoking conclusions. Some of the story beats felt a bit unnecessary, but in the context of the ending, they might add to the complexity of the interpretation.
An regarding the interpretation: I think there is a good argument to be had that Josie was replaced by Klara, but that it ultimately did not work out for the Mother. The sudden recovery of Josie, Melania’s leaving, Capaldi’s dialogue, Rick’s distancing. All this somewhat reveals that both Josie and Klara’s relationships with other people changed drastically around the same time. If Josie simply recovered, why would there be such a coldness to her?
